De tolv partnere, som udgør TRANSFORuM konsortiet repræsenterer flere førende universiteter samt uafhængige forskningsinstitutter og tænketanke. De er samlet fra hele den Europæiske Union (9 lande i alt), og sammen udgør de et etableret, omfattende og varieret fundament for faglig ekspertise. Det geografiske omfang af konsortiet omfatter både gamle og nye medlemsstater og denne bredde af ​​partnernes transport forskningsekspertise afspejles i deres omfattende engagement og bredde netværk.

Alle partnere har friheden til at handle uafhængigt af interessegrupper og er forpligtet til uvildig behandling af input fra interessenter, at levere god praksis og høj videnskabelige standarder for projektets analyse. Derudover har otte af de tolv partnere allerede arbejdet meget sammen med succes omkring FP7-projektet OPTIC (Optimal Policies for Transport In Combination). Rupprecht Consult – Forschung & Beratung GmbH is a fully independent research and consultancy company based in Cologne, Germany. The company employs thirteen internationally‐experienced consultants who are mainly working on sustainability in the fields of urban development, and innovation in transport. Its main services are targeted to cities/ regions and international organisations and include project development and management, evaluation and assessment of project impacts, dissemination, capacity building, strategy development, and independent project monitoring.

VTI - Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute, Linköping, Sweden

The Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute, VTI, is a national research institute that conducts applied transport research. VTI employs a total of 195 persons. Of the 168 R&D‐staff, 70 hold a doctor’s degree.

Eight senior researchers are associate professors at Swedish universities. The research covers a range of areas such as; sustainable development, environment, road user behaviour, planning, economics, road safety, human factors, operation of roads and railways, traffic and vehicle engineering. The range of expertise indicates the inter‐disciplinary composition of the staff.

 

University of Gdansk, Gdansk, Poland

Founded in 1970, the University of Gdansk is the largest educational institution in the Pomeranian region. It offers almost forty different fields of study with over one hundred and forty different specializations. The University has 11 faculties with almost 33,000 students, doctoral students and post graduates, who are taught by 1,700 academic staff. As such the University of Gdansk is one of the most recognised academic institutions in Poland and cooperates with universities, institutions of higher education and scientific and research institutes worldwide.

The University of Gdansk has extensive experience as a partner and leader of projects conducted within FP5 (23 projects), FP6 (19 projects), the Leonardo da Vinci Programme (11 projects), PHARE (4 projects), INTERREG III A (4 projects), INTERREG III B (3 projects), INTERREG III C (2 projects), the Central Europe Programme (1 project), SOCRATES (6 projects), the Jean Monnet Project (6 projects), as well as 37 regional projects (i.e. Equal) and other projects realised in co‐operation with international partners (enterprises, authorities, universities, etc.).

CNRS - Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique

The National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) is the largest governmental research organisation in France and the largest fundamental science agency in Europe. It employs 26,000 permanent employees (researchers, engineers, and administrative staff) and 6,000 temporary workers. Following a 2009 reform, the CNRS is divided into 10 institutes including the Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences (INSHS).

LET - Transport Economics Laboratory, Lyon, France

LET (Transport Economics Laboratory) is joint academic research unit specialised in transport economics and land use analysis. The Laboratory is not an independent legal entity but rather jointly financially and administratively managed by National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and the University of Lyon (Lumière University Lyon 2/ULL). Due to this situation CNRS and IEP is involved in TRANSFORuM as regular partners and ULL is treated as Third Party to CNRS.

LET’s research activities are at the crossroads of transport, regions and society. The research staff comes from various disciplines, principally economics and engineering, but also from others such as geography, sociology or political science. LET uses the concepts and tools of these disciplines in order to analyse and model the spatial mobility of persons and goods, as well as residential and activity location; to evaluate transport and land use policy; and to provide decision‐support to stakeholders seeking solutions to current critical issues facing society.

Université Lumière Lyon 2, Lyon, France

Lumière University Lyon 2 is one of the three universities that comprise the current University of Lyon, having splintered from an older university of the same name, and is primarily based on two campuses in Lyon itself. It has a total of 27,500 students studying for three‐to‐eight year degrees in the arts, humanities and social sciences.

AustriaTech (ATE), Federal Agency for Technological Measures Ltd., Vienna, Austria

AustriaTech federal state agency for technological measures Ltd, was founded in 2005 and is owned by the Austrian Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT). The objective of AustriaTech is to set up activities that contribute to strengthening and further developing Austria’s technological competitiveness. Their portfolio of activities is based on two business areas: Telematics and Technology Transfer. Principal focus lies on stimulating developments in the field of infrastructure technologies, coordinated and implementation of these within Austria and on international placement of Austrian technological competences. In implementing these aims, the organisation pursues non‐profit‐making interests extending beyond the entrepreneurial objectives of both public and private companies. Their staff is mainly made up of graduates from technical and business management institutions providing know‐how from the fields of information and communications

technology, Intelligent Transport Systems, transport management and organisation, and project management. There are 32 persons are employed at AustriaTech, 25 of which are full time.

Danmarks Tekniske Universitet, Lyngby, Denmark

Technical University of Denmark, Department of Transport

The Technical University of Denmark (DTU) is one of Europe’s leading technical universities. Its Department of Transport is one of the largest transport planning research units with a focus on sustainable mobility, transport policy analysis, transport modelling, safety aspects of transport, logistic optimisation, transport economics, transport behaviour and socioeconomic impact assessments. The department works closely together with other transport research institutions, nationally and internationally as well as with national authorities, different interest groups and private companies. This gives the department a strong relation to the applications of the research undertaken and gives the research a valuable operational angle. The department has been and is currently involved in several FP 7 projects.

University of Oxford, Transport Studies Unit, Oxford, United Kingdom

The Transport Studies Unit (TSU) is a research centre based at the School of Geography and the Environment, University of Oxford. It has an established international research reputation in the fields of transport policy analysis, the development of new methodologies and behavioural studies. Particular emphasis is placed on understanding the social, economic and environmental implications of transport over both time and space and the TSU's work ranges in geographic scale from the local to the global, drawing on the full spectrum of quantitative and qualitative research techniques. The TSU takes an interdisciplinary approach to the study of transport futures, drawing on relevant, state‐of‐the art developments in geography, environmental and transport studies, economics, sociology, psychology and the engineering sciences.

CDV - Centrum dopravního výzkumu, v.v.i., Brno, Czech Republic

Transport Research Centre

The Transport Research Centre (CDV) is the only public scientific research institution under the Czech Ministry of Transport. CDV was established in 1992 as a successor to the Czech Transport Departments Research Institute in Žilina and is now, since 2007, a public research institution. The CDV has a certificated quality management system called ČSN EN ISO 9001:2001. The basic purposes of the centre are research and development activities, processing expertise, ensure projects and services for Ministry of Transport, as well as providing expert opinions for authorities, both public and commercial entities. The Transport Research Centre employs more than 150 people, among which are experts from all modes of transport. The professional activity is divided into three divisions: transport development, transport infrastructure and the environment, traffic safety and traffic engineering. CDV researchers have extensive experience in projects solution of EU programs (FP 4, 5, 6, 7; IEE, Marco Polo, Central Europe, Marie Curie (TITaM coordinator) etc.).

KTH - Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan, Stockholm, Sweden

Royal Institute of Technology

KTH accounts for one‐third of Sweden’s technical research and engineering capacity at the university level and has around 3,000 employees, a couple hundred of which work within transport research. The research carried out at the Division of Environmental Strategies Research (fms) concerns the interconnections between environmental issues, technological development and societal change. The research group has a pronounced interdisciplinary profile and consists of more than 30 researchers. A large part of the work concerns how sustainable transport systems, at Swedish and European level, could be designed and how the changes might be initialised. The Division also has a proven experience in LCA of fuels, transport infrastructure and vehicles.

The staff consists of 12 persons specialized in transport and logistics, capacity analysis and fast passenger service. The group has contact with the rail industry i.e. by SJ, Green Cargo, Hector Rail, Tågåkeriet I Bergslagen, Association of Swedish train operators, Bombardier Transportation and Bombardier RCS signalling systems, Kockums and Tatravagonka.

Karlsruher Institut für Technologie - KIT, Karlsruhe, Germany

 The Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis (ITAS) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is integrated into the research programme of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres. With about 100 employees, the ITAS creates and communicates knowledge on the impacts of human action and their evaluation in view of the development and use of new technologies. The institute applies and upgrades methods of technology assessment, systems analysis and technology foresight. KIT‐ITAS carries out self-defined research work integrated within the programmes of the Helmholtz Association, as well as third‐party funded and contract research. Important external clients are the European Commission as well as federal and state ministries and authorities. KIT‐ITAS has been operating the Office of Technology Assessment at the German Parliament since 1990. KIT‐ITAS is also leading a network of European parliamentary TA institutions advising the European Parliament via its Scientific Technology Options Assessment Panel (STOA). KIT‐ITAS is actively involved in networks, such as the European Parliamentary Technology Assessment Network (EPTA) and the European Techno‐Economic Policy Support Network (ETEPS).

TOI - Transportøkonomisk institutt, Oslo, Norway

Institute of Transport Economics

TOI is a national transport research institute, and a non‐profit organisation. TOI’s mission is to develop and disseminate transportation knowledge with scientific quality and practical application. TOI employs approximately 70 researchers, economists, engineers, sociologists, geographers and psychologists. TOI specialises in the societal aspects of transport. The main areas of research at TOI include: cost benefit analysis; transport modelling; financing and organising public transport; freight transport; international logistics; planning and decision‐making processes; traffic safety; and travel behaviour. The researchers at TOI have vast experience in the scientific management of EU programmes, and scientists have assumed coordinator roles and work package leadership in numerous projects within the Framework Programmes of the EU. TOI has participated in more than 60 EU projects under FP 4, 5, 6 and 7. Reference projects include OPTIC, CLOSER, EWENT, PROLOGUE, ENNAH, BEST,

BOB, CONCERTOUR, COST264, DRUID, ENACT, EURO_ACCESS, EXPEDITE, and IN‐SAFETY.

 

Institut d'études politiques de Lyon - IEP, Sciences Po Lyon, Lyon, France

The IEP is a public school of higher education whose vocation is to train students to become executives in public and private sectors. Its formation is based on the 4 dimensions of human and social sciences: history, law, economics and politics studies.  A 60-years’ experience provides IEP an effective pedagogical pattern made out of mixing both academic and professional teaching with a large number of actors and supervision of Master and Doctorate degrees with an endlessly renewed effort in research. Thus, the IEP is strong of partnerships with 160 international universities which add to the IEP formation programme a high opportunity about learning from world cultures.
